WHEN IS THE LORD’S DAY?

Because time is rapidly growing shorter, it is felt that some things must be repeated again; so, this Bible lesson is about God’s Fourth Precept, how I came to learn of its truth, who changed it and why. Some very enlightening historical data is included. Little did I realize the responsibility that would accompany such knowledge or the persecution that would be received because of it; nevertheless and despite being very unworthy, I humbly accepted it and joyfully share with every ear that will hear (understand).

My learning of these matters began with a prayer followed by dogged determination and a willingness to do the necessary study as well as the massive research:

“Dear heavenly Father, I heard that Sunday isn’t your Sabbath, that it’s Saturday. When is your Sabbath? Is the day important? What is the significance and what are your rules for it? And, if it’s not Sunday, who changed it and why? I am here for your truths and yours only and I’m not going anywhere because I desire to please you and to understand your truths. The Lord rebukes Satan, thus in Jesus precious name I ask these things. Amen.”

Thirty-plus years ago, I took literally Christ’s instruction, “If ye seek the Truth, come to me,” coupled with another paraphrased scripture, “Ye who are anointed have no need to be taught by any man.” Thus, the above was my prayer shortly after beginning an ongoing journey into Biblical discovery of God, His character, His expectations of us, and His Son Jesus Christ; our Lord and Saviour. Everyone who claims God and Jesus must do this, or risk living a lie and being destroyed for it.

I was raised Southern Baptist and a Sunday school teacher at the time I uttered that prayer; a time when I had become disillusioned with what was being taught in the quarterlies versus what I was reading in the Bible. I wanted God’s Truth and only His. I wanted to understand what He meant by “man’s smooth words, the weightier matters of the Law that should have been taught” coupled with a distant memory of having once heard a brief rumor that Sunday was not His Sabbath. Also, there was the scripture, “would you obey man and perish or obey God and live.”  I definitely did not want to “obey man” insofar as man alters God’s Word.

The first thing the Holy Spirit taught was God’s instructions on how to study His Word; then, He was quick to answer with every Word of God’s opinion and more! God not only makes it abundantly clear what day is His and Christ’s Sabbath but also who changed it and why: His answers ultimately revealing the great whore and her harlot daughter as well as leading the way to identifying the beast’s mark and God’s seal, and identifying Revelation’s second beast. God’s Truth reveals the devious fallen angel Lucifer.

Please remember: God does not speak “smooth words” as do scribes and Pharisees, to-wit: pastors and theologians. God’s Word is hard-hitting, and to the point. If only His response is sought, it will be nothing short of astounding, sometimes almost overwhelming and certainly not in keeping with man’s doctrine and traditions: those things we’ve been taught all our lives. Be prepared to hear things never heard and, perhaps, never read. Back then I had never heard or seen most of the verses offered hereinbelow: they certainly are not presented from Sunday’s pulpits. The Spirit literally took me through the Bible to the very passages provided herein. GOD IS AWESOME!

For the purposes of the initial question and space permitted, offered are AKJV scripture references only. The references will be followed by a few historical, critical quotes that should leave no question in anyone’s mind as to the “who and why.” El Shaddai promised He preserves (protects) His Truths: as Revelation points out, even when about to be lost altogether, which is referring to El’s true doctrine being virtually hidden in a sackcloth and ashes state for 1290 years during which Satan would deceive the world by twisting God’s Word.

During those years anyone who did not ‘hear’ those hidden truths from pulpits were not held accountable for obedience to them inasmuch as it was rare for a common layman to own a Bible. Also, Ishi stated that those ‘hidden’ truths would be revealed and indeed they were brought to light 167 years ago (200 years following the Bible being made available to everyone) and His doctrine was and continues to be spread around the globe, meaning that since 1844AD forward all humanity, who has heard or read, is held accountable.

Please note that discrepancies in the Word are found in nearly all versions of the Bible. Provided verse references hereinbelow are taken from the Authorized King James Version, which God has shown to be the most reliable, after considerable research. For example, crucial changes and omissions are found in Hebrews c.4 in a number of other versions, therefore if anyone uses a different version, please take the time to compare those passages to an AKJV. Now God’s Word:

THE LORD’S SABBATH: ‘stranger’ refers to heathens, pagans, Gentiles;

‘sign, seal, mark, token’ are synonymous words, noted by behavior for spiritual purposes. The Bible refers to the precept Sabbath by several terms: our memorial, holy convocation, holy day, Lord’s day, holy fast, Sabbath(s), sign, seal.

Memorial refers us to the six days of creation, from which God rested on the seventh day and sanctified this day; that is, designated the seventh day as a holy day.

Holy Convocation means a calling to holy worship of the Lord and His Christ on this holy seventh day, the Lord’s Day.

It is considered a holy fast in that God designated this Sabbath as a day of rest from our labours, neither doing our own pleasure nor speaking our own words, a time to be with our families, and a time to feed the hungry and house the homeless and clothe the naked. Observing this day as He has instructed clearly reveal the God and His Christ whom we serve: no other day of the week causes this identity— He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it (Romans 14: ~6)

God clearly cites the seventh day Sabbath as His Sign/Seal of Authority, the same seal mentioned in Revelation 7: 3 as being impressed upon the foreheads of the servants of God and Christ; a seal that is noted by the servants’ behaviour, which is clarified in Hebrews c.4 wherein states that to fail to enter God’s rest is an example of unbelief. It further reveals that, if Jesus had given rest, He would have spoken of another day, but He did not speak of any other day of rest; in fact, He stated, “I also am Lord of the Sabbath,” and, as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and taught. This also held true of His Apostles. If you really want God’s Truth, you will look up and read every one of the following scripture references as well as those noted throughout this piece.

The above references are small in number compared to all scriptures regarding the whole of God’s Law: the Ten Commandments, also Biblically known as Statutes of Life, Law of Liberty, Law of Righteousness, Law of Truth.

HISTORICAL QUOTES:

THE FIRST BEAST of Revelation 13:1-2, 5-6; Daniel 7:8,20,25 (Daniel’s time and times and the dividing of time equals 1260 years) II Thessalonians 2:3,4

1. Cardinal Gibbons, Catholic Mirror, 23 Dec 1893— “Reason and sense demand the acceptance of one or the other of these alternatives; either Protestantism and the keeping holy of Saturday or Catholicity and the keeping holy of Sunday. Compromise is impossible.”

2. Plain Talk for Protestants, page 213— “The OBSERVANCE of SUNDAY by the Protestants is an HOMAGE THEY PAY in spite of themselves to the AUTHORITY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.”

3. Douay Catechism, page 59— Ques: “How prove you that the church hath power to command feasts and holy days?

Ans: “By the very act of changing the Sabbath into Sunday, which Protestants allow of, and therefore they fondly contradict themselves by keeping Sunday strictly, and breaking most other Feasts commanded by the [Papal church].”

            Ques: “How prove you that”

Ans: “Because by keeping SUNDAY they ACKNOWLEDGE the CHURCH’S POWER to ordain feasts, and to command them under sin.”

4. Question Box, Ed., 1915, page 179— “If the Bible is the only guide for the Christian then the Seventh-day Adventist is RIGHT, in observing the Saturday with the Jew. . . Is it not STRANGE, that those who make the Bible their ONLY TEACHER, should inconsistently follow in this matter the TRADITION of the Catholic Church?”

5. Catholic Mirror, September 1893— “The Catholic Church for over one thousand years before the existence of a protestant, by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday.”

6. H. F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons wrote, “Of course the catholic Church claims that the change was her act. . . And the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things.”

7. Ferraris’ Ecclesiastic Dictionary (Catholic) Article, Pope (the following fulfills Isaiah 14:12-14)—

“The Pope is of so great dignity and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God, and the VICAR OF GOD.

“The Pope is of such lofty and supreme dignity that, properly speaking, he has not been established in any rank of dignity, but rather has been placed upon the very summit of all ranks of dignities. . .”

“He is likewise the divine monarch and supreme emperor and king of kings. HENCE THE POPE IS CROWNED WITH A TRIPLE CROWN, AS KING OF HEAVEN AND OF EARTH AND OF THE LOWER REGIONS.”

THE SECOND BEAST spoken of in Revelation 13:11-12 (United States of America)—

1. National Reform Convention, Sept. 1887— “Resolved that the sabbath (Sunday) is a sign between God and man, and its reverent observance a MARK of the nation whose God is Jehovah.”

2. Christian Statesman, Sept. 1927— “WE HEREBY AGREE. . . that such sabbath (Sunday) observance laws for the District of Columbia MAY BE LOOKED UPON not only as MODEL SABBATH OBSERVANCE LAWS FOR AMERICA, but as model sabbath observance laws for the REST OF THE WORLD.”

3. Christian Statesman, March 1927— “We insist upon the challenge, ‘All must rest, that all may.’ We stand by the battle cry, ‘NO SPECIAL PRIVILEGES AND NO SEVENTH DAY SUBSIDY.’ If the sabbath (Sunday) laws need adjusting to ‘works of necessity’ of the twentieth century, WE WILL ALTER AND ADJUST THEM OURSELVES.”

There are incredible volumes of historical data that continue to support the above scriptures and claims supporting God’s Seventh Sabbath Day; such as historical calendar records revealing Sunday as always having been the first day of the week and Saturday as the seventh, that Papal Rome made its first public announcement about Sunday in 200 AD and made it a mandatory law in 348 AD, and so much more.

Having read this piece puts readers in a position to have to make a choice: “Would you follow the laws of man and perish, or follow the Law of God and live?” God said, “I put before you life and death; choose life.” A lack of obedience to any part of God’s Doctrine is to choose death. I pray that everyone chooses life in abundance, everlasting, eternally.

  1. Thank you, Brent, for you blessings and for the historical data you included. As you said, the list goes on and the Holy Spirit had me pen it all in His chronologically paraphrased interpretation of The Revelation, “Bind Up the Testimony, Seal the Law.” You might want a copy, which can be ordered from any online or local bookstore; albeit, Amazon offers the best pricing. 🙂

I hope to see you stop by again sometime! 🙂

  2. Bonnie,

May God bless you as you continue to study. I don’t have time at this very moment to expound completely, but it’s interesting that not only did the papacy fit the power to change times and laws, but every other prediction of the antichrist as well:

persecuting power: (50-100 million killed for their faith)

1260 years: dominant political power of Europe from Justinian’s decree/Ostrogoth fall in 538 A.D. until pope taken captive in 1798.

Deadly wound (1798) healed (political power restored 1927 and now three US President kneeling in homage to casket of fallen pope.

Arose after the fall of Rome in 476 A.D. concurrent with the removal of 3 of the 10 barbarian tribes (Ostrogoths, Vandals, Heruli).

City on the seven hills (obviously Rome)

The list goes on. May God bless us all as we continue to study and draw closer to Him in these final days.

  4. I’m sorry but I’m having trouble understanding this entry.
    I have a few questions.

You stated that God has shown the AKJV to be the most reliable. I was wondering where you found that out. I heard that the NRSV (New Revised Standard Version) was the best translation out there.

What did you mean by the Revelation parts about the first and second beast?

    Thanks for answering,

    Steve.

  5. Thank you, Diana! Actually, Romans 14:5-6 is included in this article; however, Colossians 2:16-17 is referring to sacrifical ordinance feasts, specifically the annual sabbath of atonement provided prior to Christ’s arrival and becoming the permanent sacrificial Lamb: which is far different from the fourth precept and which sacrificial ordinances were done away with by Christ’s death on the cross.

For everyone, I would like to add that while Christianity teaches Saturday as the Jewish Sabbath and Sunday the Lord’s Day as the Christian sabbath, there is not one scripture in the Bible that declares Sunday as sanctified (made holy) nor is it Biblically referred to as the Lord’s Day: rather, it consistently is referred to as the “first day of the week.” The term Lord’s Day is another Biblical term for the Fourth Precept Sabbath and it never has been Biblically applied to Sunday.

    Much love and hugs,

  6. Bonnie,
That is a very helpful article to those who want to learn more about the real Sabbath.
I wouldn’t agree with calling Sunday the real Sabbath, but as to a requirement of observance of it, I would suggest among all the other scriptures that Colossians 2.16-17 and Romans 14.5-6 also be included 🙂
    Much love in Christ,
    Diana

  7. Ah, my darling Joanne, you are such a steadfast, loyal sister; and, you have received persecution for the same. For what better friend and sister could I ask? God has so blessed me with you at my side, precious one; and, if there were a way I could shield you from the persecution, I would do it: though we both know it is precisely that in which we should rejoice.

I love you the best, too! SisBon 🙂

  8. Again, I thank you Bonnie for so boldly proclaiming the Truth of God. When arguements are made against this teaching, they pale in authority to this message.

I continue to pray that all believers (my own Pastor and Church family included) will receive this truth and accept that they have been deceived for countless generations. It is so clearly a deception but is so firmly entrenched in society, government and the Church. Only the Holy Spirit can reveal this truth in these end times.

I am so awed by your persistence in the face of persecution and rejection. I stand by you as you fight this good fight of faith.

I love you the best! – joanne
